Fluids - Mediums

The FixSepar® media ECO, AF, SAF and Bailenger, have been specially developed and modified for the ParasiTrap® diagnostic method.
They can be used for send in (with the dissolved sample material) and processing.
The FixSepar® – Combi-Medium is also a new development from Biosepar and serves to separate and stain the parasites.
The BioFlot® flotation medium has opened up new dimensions to the old proven flotation technology and is very popular for the human, big and small animal diagnostics.
The ParasiTrap® media enable qualitatively and quantitatively the highest hit rates. They detect all forms of parasites, such as larvae, cysts and worm eggs. Another advantage is the efficient way of processing and the morphological stability of all parasite forms. The formalin-free transport and processing solutions also improve the hygiene and increase their safety. At the same time they reduce the costs for the environmentally friendly disposal of diagnostic materials.
The Biosepar media are also very much appreciated and successfully used in all other diagnostic systems at home and abroad.

Medium A FixSepar® ECO

This formalin-free transport and processing medium, newly developed and patented by Biosepar, fixes the parasites in their native state for weeks at room temperature without any morphological changes. If the user suspends the faecal material in the FixSepar® ECO medium after taking the sample, it can be used for light-optical, molecular-biological (PCR) and serological-immunological tests.

Medium A FixSepar® AF

Formalin-containing transport, fixation and processing medium without merthiolate (mercury compound) newly developed by Biosepar for the sedimentation technology. FixSepar®-AF offers high sensitivity and optimal hit rates for all worm eggs, larvae and protozoa. Sample material sent in with this medium remains fresh for weeks until processing and without the risk of bacterial growth. The morphological properties of the parasites are always preserved.

Medium A FixSepar® SAF

Formalin-containing transport, fixation and processing medium for sedimentation technology further developed and improved by Biosepar. FixSepar® SAF offers high sensitivity and optimal hit rates for all worm eggs, larvae and protozoa. Sample material sent in with this medium remains fresh for weeks until processing and without the risk of bacterial growth.

Medium A FixSepar® Bailenger

The FixSepar® Bailenger medium offers high sensitivity and optimal hit rates for all worm eggs, larvae and protozoa. It fulfills diagnostic and legal requirements in some Western European EU countries and in North Africa. Sample material sent in with this medium must be kept cool until processing.

Medium B

The Biosepar separation medium “B” helps to achieve a high sensitivity and optimal hit rates for all worm eggs, larvae and protozoa and is an important part of parasitological stool diagnostics. The separation medium “B” is an organic solvent (ethyl acetate) and has a very important function in the standardized enrichment and isolation of the parasites.

Important: it has been scientifically clearly proven that the hit rate of the parasites is significantly improved with the use of a release agent and is therefore essential for an optimal result. Contradicting claims are untrue and do not reflect years of experience in parasitological practice.

Order no.: 8487/B

Medium C

The Biosepar staining medium “C” stains all worm eggs, larvae and protozoa. The staining process with this medium is an important diagnostic factor for the assessment, differentiation and identification of the parasites. This happens through the different accumulation of the dye (here iodine) in the different subcellular areas and in the outer and inner membrane layers of the parasite cells. The Biosepar staining medium “C” contains iodine. The precautionary measures during use must be strictly observed.

Combi Medium

The Biosepar Combi Medium is a new research development of Biosepar. It is used for the simultaneous separation and staining of all larvae, worm eggs and protozoa, which further simplifies and improves the diagnostic effort for the user. Staining with simultaneous separation improves the differentiation, assessment and identification of the parasites. This happens through the different accumulation of the dye (here iodine) in the subcellular areas and in the different membrane layers of the parasite cells. The separation of the parasites from the many other, disturbing components of the stool / faeces is necessary for an optimal examination result. The Biosepar Combi Medium contains iodine and contains, among other things also organic solvent. The precautionary measures during use must be strictly observed. The FixSepar®-Combi Medium significantly improves work safety at the workplace. It reduces the risk of chemical burns from the iodine.

Important: it has been scientifically repeated and clearly proven that the hit rate of the parasites is significantly improved with the use of a release agent and is therefore essential for an optimal result. Contradicting claims are untrue and do not reflect many years of experience in parasitological practice.

BioFlot® PLUS

The Biosepar BioFlot® PLUS flotation medium for parasites is a new development from Biosepar research and opens up new dimensions for the proven flotation method in stool and faeces diagnostics. It is used for the simultaneous detection of all larvae, worm eggs and protozoa. BioFlot® is absolutely non-toxic, pH-neutral and free of all heavy metals and environmentally harmful substances such as zinc, sulfate, phosphate and nitrate. This makes disposal problem-free and there is no need to collect it as hazardous waste. Another advantage is that the parasites retain their morphological characteristics for a longer period than the previous conventional flotation media, which means that the examination can be made independent of time, and thus facilitated and rationalized. Due to the high specific weight of 1.30, the hit rates are always qualitatively and quantitatively in the optimal range.

An additional sedimentation step can also be carried out as part of this flotation method. The newly developed BioFlot® PLUS flotation medium together with the active fine filtration in the ParasiTrap® processing now makes this cleaning step superfluous in most cases.

Dispersion solution

The ParasiTrap® dilution medium is chemically inactive and pH neutral. It can be used safely in all processing steps in order to optimally adjust the concentrations of the stool or feces suspensions for the examinations.

Isopropanol

The cleaning of the parasitological work areas is an important safety factor for the examiner and protection against potentially infectious materials. The Biosepar cleaning solution based on 70% isopropanol fulfills this task in an ideal way. All water- and fat-soluble contamination of the workplace is reliably dissolved and removed. Under these circumstances, bacterial growth is ruled out and there is no longer any further risk of infection for the parasitological workplace.

Hämolyse-Reagenz

The Biosepar cell hemolysis reagent is used where erythrocytes preferably need to be lysed.
